Bournemouth Town Centre

Visual Identity
In 1994 Bournemouth Town Council together with the local business community took the proactive step of appointing a Town Centre Manager. This prestigious appointment went to Brigid Carroll DipM. MCIM who in turn enlisted the help of Denham Design to firstly create a visual identity for Bournemouth Town Centre Management. This identity would initially be implemented on stationery and building signage.

Because of Brigid's extensive experience in Marketing a precise design brief was given - namely that it should feature the ‘swirl’ element to evoke its ‘central’ role and that it should portray the seaside location of Bournemouth. Several designs based on this brief were submitted and the one shown below finally chosen.
The Business Plan
The next task for Denham Design was to produce the 'Bournemouth Town Centre Management Business Plan 1997 to 2000'. The important role of this document demanded a highly disciplined approach to its design. Great care was taken to ensure that the overall continuity of visual identity was retained and the layout of information within was clear and concise.
Invitations
The official launch of the 'Business Plan' was held at one of Bournemouth's premier hotels 'The Royal Bath Hotel'. To aid in the promotion of this event RSVP invitations were produced and mailed direct to appropriate guests.
Display Boards
Utilising the artwork that had been produced for the 'Business Plan' three large display boards were produced for the launch event. These showed the main objectives of the 'Business Plan' and acted as a backdrop to the presentation.
Town Talk
As part of the ongoing communications of Bournemouth Town Centre Management a bi-monthly newsletter is produced. This is to keep all those concerned up to date with Town Centre developments and also acts to some degree as a forum for comment on Town Centre Issues. The newsletter is also used from time to time to gather information on views and opinions, this is usually in the form of 'return by post questionnaires'.
